About the Foundation

Helping young people rediscover the joy of their unique lives

Be Happy Foundation is a non-governmental organization founded by Dr. Rose Ogbechie, with a mission to inspire and empower young people to create lasting change through positive thinking and happiness within their communities.

Be Happy Foundation aims at impacting the lives of young people by helping them to rediscover the joy of their unique lives, and to find happiness.

The Foundation is intent on achieving this by guiding young people through processes towards self-affirmation, self-actualization and self-fulfilment. People often encounter unhappiness when troubled with negative thoughts, anxiety, tension, fear and uncertainty.

The Foundation undertakes seminars, workshops and counselling for schools and organisations.

The Foundation also empowers young ladies through vocational training, formation and mentorship.

More about us

What we do

Programmes that help young people find happiness.

Projected outreach

Where we are taking this next.

Spread awareness of happiness

Reach young people across Nigeria with programmes and practical exercises that show happiness can be cultivated.

Transform company culture

Work with organizations on happiness-culture creation, because happier workplaces are measurably more productive ones.

Empower women & girls

Equip young women and girls with skills, mentorship and the confidence to become ambassadors of hope in their societies.

Why this matters

Youths today are in dire need of finding fulfillment.

Every100

minutes, a young person takes their own life.

20%

of young people experience depression before they reach adulthood.

6th

most suicide-prone country in the world, according to the World Health Organization.

Who we are

Happiness is serious business.

Finding happiness is a pressing concern in a developing country like ours, where corruption and poverty are rampant.

Despite Nigeria's improved ranking in the 2019 World Happiness Report as the 86th happiest country in the world and 2nd in Sub-Saharan Africa, suicide rates keep surging. A lot of individuals live each day without a sense of purpose and happiness.

Happy workplaces measurably outperform.

  • Productivity +31%
  • Retention +44%
  • Sales +37%

To transform the lives of young people through helping them to develop positive thinking in order to achieve happiness and fulfilling lives.

We pursue this through:

  • Seminars for schools and organizations
  • Counseling workshops and food outreach
  • Skills training and business set-up support

Reaching over 2,000 young people between 2018 and 2021.

Support the work we are doing by giving back to society.

A key challenge we face as a Foundation is getting sufficient funds to finance our projects. Support can also be given by sponsoring our programmes. In supporting the work we do, you would be making significant impact in the lives of many young Nigerians.
