Be Happy Foundation aims at impacting the lives of young people by helping them to rediscover the joy of their unique lives, and to find happiness.
The Foundation is intent on achieving this by guiding young people through processes towards self-affirmation, self-actualization and self-fulfilment. People often encounter unhappiness when troubled with negative thoughts, anxiety, tension, fear and uncertainty.
The Foundation undertakes seminars, workshops and counselling for schools and organisations.
The Foundation also empowers young ladies through vocational training, formation and mentorship.

Preamble
Happiness is serious business.
With over one billion people in today's world living without enough to eat each day, even in the midst of global technological and socio-economic progress, the contradictions of living and surviving today are more pronounced than ever. In Nigeria, where the political and socio-economic climates are fragile and tense, a lot of individuals live each day without a sense of purpose and happiness.
Despite Nigeria's improved ranking, in the 2019 World Happiness Report, as the 86th happiest country in the world and 2nd in Sub-Saharan Africa, suicide rates keep surging, with the World Health Organization placing Nigeria paradoxically as the sixth suicide-prone country in the world. As such, finding happiness is a pressing concern in a developing country like ours, where corruption and poverty are rampant.
However, in spite of the fact that adequate family incomes enhance life satisfaction, other factors that matter even more are community trust, mental and physical health, social support and generosity. As such, developed nations with greater social equality, trust and quality of governance, rank as happier places to live in.
Even though happiness is a subjective experience, studies reveal that it can be objectively measured, assessed, correlated with observable brain functions and social behaviour. Researches show that happy people live longer, recover faster, are more energetic, remain calm in trying situations, experience less stress, achieve more aggressive goals, and earn higher incomes.
Why this matters
Youths today are in dire need of finding fulfillment.

Target beneficiaries
But, can happiness be taught?
Our programmes and outreaches are targeted at young people, whether at the secondary, tertiary or professional stages of study and career.
We realize that suicide is the third leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 15-24. Young people are more prone to depression in a time when there is a gap between youthful vigor and socioeconomic pressures, which can stir up a crisis of relevance. Social media stereotypes do not help to assuage the problem, as youths are exposed daily to a wide current of misdirection, and are in danger of losing peace and purpose.
Positive institutions like the Be Happy Foundation can reinforce the perception and practice of virtues that, in turn, help to solidify positive emotions of joy, happiness and contentment.
Challenges so far
Funding
A key challenge we face as a Foundation is getting sufficient funds to finance our projects. We are soliciting for support towards our projects. Support can also be given by sponsoring our programmes.
Skepticism in happiness concerns
People often treat with skepticism, issues concerning happiness, depression and mental health. This is because most people feel that happiness is solely dependent on financial prosperity. However, it is the case that happiness and fulfillment go much beyond the pursuit of money alone.
